When I was doing Music Technology during my A-levels previously I had no musical background whatsoever, the reason why I choose the subject was to enhance my creativity but I was afraid as I did not received any musical theory learning before. I discovered that some music producers doesn’t have a full range of knowledge when dealing with music theory but although it is recommendable to study it.

Principally because is the basics of the music and you will have a better understanding of structuring melodies,chords, etc. Ir will open up more creative possibilities and it will be efficient when composing and personally I am looking for that.

Personally I believe music theory is no different than mastering a DAW, plug-in, or instrument. It is simply another (extremely useful) tool used by the best music producers, but also it is the most basic and necessary tool when going through the music industry.
